The Ashes

The 2023 Ashes series featured a series of Test cricket matches between England and Australia in June and July 2023. The five-match series was part of the 2023–2025 ICC World Test Championship, with matches held at Edgbaston, Lord's, Headingley, Old Trafford, and The Oval.

The series concluded in a 2–2 draw, resulting in Australia retaining The Ashes, having previously won in 2021–22. It was the 73rd Ashes series and the 37th to take place in England.

Notably, it was the first time in the 139-year history of the Ashes that no Test matches were scheduled in August during an England-hosted series. This change was made to avoid overlapping with The Hundred tournament.

In a departure from tradition, Australia did not play any tour matches against county teams before the Ashes series. Instead, they participated in the 2023 ICC World Test Championship final against India in London, just a week prior to the Ashes series. This unique scheduling added an interesting aspect to the series, making it an eagerly anticipated event for cricket fans worldwide.
